It’s been a nice weekend up at the trailer… Fire last night and fancy breakfast this morning.
-
Kiefer and I came up to the trailer last night. It was fun to spend time focusing on him. We played fish, he killed me. We ate poutine in the car because there was nowhere to sit. We played war, he crushed me. We watched an episode of Last Kids on Earth and hit the hay. It was a great night!
This morning I made him an omelette with cheese curds, “Kiefer Ultimate” he’s dubbed it with a rating of 200 out of 10!

My eldest son, Derek, started pickling things while stuck inside in Halifax. He sent me the recipe so I tried it out too. I’ve never pickled anything other than my liver. Will let you know in 10 days how they turned out!

Next phase complete for lawn fixing! Top dressing and weed killer… the good stuff from the US!
-
Great progress today on the lawn! Total family affair. We aerated, weeded, mowed, and dethatched! And got burnt!
-
Whipping the lawn into shape this weekend: Aerate Pull weeds Mow Dethatch Rake Level lawn in back where needed Weed killer Seed Top dressing Fertilizer
At home depot renting equipment… The lineup to get into Home Depot during COVID is nuts!

Woke up this morning to Kiefer on our floor. He snuck in at some point. He’s such an innocent. There isn’t a mean or malicious bone in his body. He just always wants to be near us. ❤️
-
Night up at the trailer, s’mores and roasting marshmallows. Not sure how much longer the kids will like it up here :)
-
Supporting Burger Royale tonight for our weekly takeout dinner!

This is Lida. She is Kiefer’s therapy dog. She’s a Golden Retriever and she’s wonderful. You can’t leave food out or she’ll eat it and she has what we affectionately call a tiny bit of anxiety herself. The two of them make each other whole.

I would have bet money that the setting on the trimmer the hair cutting places use was 3/8”. Turns out 5/8” is probably the right length. With hair places still closed, self hair cuts is what we do in the time of pandemics. As my boss Jamie would / will say “high and tight!”.

OMG! While Krista and I were out, Parker, Blaine, and Kiefer transformed our garage into a fancy restaurant where they served us dinner and drinks by candlelight on a rose petal covered table. Man they drive us crazy sometimes but what sweetheart kids we have!
-
16 years ago Krista and I were married in Nassau. All our most important friends and family (20 people) came. It was not just an amazing day, it was an amazing week! Being able to spend so much time with all your favourite people as an adult is such a rare occurrence!
Love you baby, thanks for being my bestie and partner in crime all these years!

Kicked out of my office to make way for a deep cleaning/disinfection of every surface at work. It’s a small thing but an important way that we show the people at SPS that we care about their well-being as we prepare to come back to work in the next few weeks.
-
In an effort to boost spirits, reconnect with all my team mates at SPS Commerce, give each parent something new to see/do/interact with, and generally just bring a smile to some faces, Parker and I set out on a 13 hour journey to deliver dozens of care packages to everyone in the Toronto office.
We ate out for three meals, covered about 800kms (500 miles), reconnected at a safe distance with many people, and absolutely mission accomplished!
Included in each care package was - a toy or game to play with kids - a gratitude journal to help remind us all of what we have to be thankful for - a few adult beverages to have a toast or help survive the day! - a handmade facemask - a chocolate bar - some glow sticks, because why not! - a quick grow kit of tomatoes, strawberries, or flower bulbs so that we can all grow something in this time
It was so great to see everyone, but more than that, it was great having Parker all to myself for the whole day. We talked about so many things, it was wonderful!
-
This is the latest that I can remember it being so cold and snowing! - 4 today! My big plan for the day was to get the lawn in shape, guess that is not happening!
-
Growing scorpion peppers again this year at the office, some sprouts coming up!

“Delicious!”
“20 out of 10”
“Amazing!”
Well, my crimp was not the best so need some help figuring that out but flavour and overall appeal, top notch. I gave a toast to all our friends in Minneapolis, Parker, Blaine, Kiefer, Krista and I say hi!

Juicy Lucy’s Tonight!
I was introduced to Juicy Lucy’s in Minneapolis, first at the Blue Door Pub with my friends Leah and Dan and then at Matt’s Bar and Grill by my friend Jamie. I know that Matt’s is the more authentic one, but I like Blue cheese, Krista wanted Gouda, and Parker wanted cheddar. Sorry to all the Matt’s and 5-8 Club aficionados out there!
So, this is my attempt, will post results and comments later!

Local burrito place, Jey’s, our choice for “support your local eatery” night. 650g is a lot of burrito 🌯😁

Parker is 14, turning 15 in July. He’s a great kid, works hard, and is thoughtful and sweet. We are losing him to teenagitis. He has a really good group of friends and he spends so much time online with them. Krista joined SnapChat to stay connected to him. I don’t like social media so my way of connecting with him is to start watching a series together. Enter Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where we started watching it together after everyone else has gone to bed. It’s my special time with him :)

Breakfast in bed this morning!
Our 14 year old son Parker surprised Krista and I with breakfast in bed this morning. He’s such a sweet boy :)
